M.A.C Lickable Lipstick review

For those who follow me on Twitter, you would remember I had an open recruitment call for bold and bright summer lipsticks. One of these positions (care of Back 2 M.A.C ) has been filled by M.A.C Lickable.

M.A.C Lickable was introduced to me by state M.A.C MUA trainer Jo Cocks at the Brisbane Myer M.A.C November Techniques seminar.

I adored how it looked on Resha aka Kanye Breast.

 

Colour

Lickable is a bold hot pink/fuchsia, berry colour. It has small sparkles through it. It is very full on if applied directly and opaquely to the lips. However, you can easily apply it as a wash or stain to give your lips a pink tint. I have seen it on women with lighter skin tones and on darker skin tones and it truly is a unique and flattering lipstick.

 

Texture

M.A.C Lickable is a Cremesheen finish meaning it is has a creamy and moisturising texture. M.A.C Cremesheen’s are best to apply however due to their creamy formula are prone to breaking or melting at the slightest amount of heat (of particular concern in the tropical northern states of Australia). It glides on like a dream and as a Cremesheen has a slightly wet finish meaning you won’t  necessarily need gloss.

 

Application

This lipstick is beautiful applied straight out the tube without liner, although I have heard complaints that it bleeds easily without liner however I haven’t experienced that. Alternatively, use a lip brush such as the E.L.F retractable lip brush.  I have seen M.A.C Magenta lip liner paired with Lickable and it’s a match made in heaven.

Due to the boldness of Lickable it is advised you take care and a little extra time in applying it.

Also, I have found it stains your lips quite significantly so be sure to apply a moisturising lip balm underneath to create a barrier.

Want to match it with a gloss for an extra punch? I recommend a clear gloss or a gloss with pink shimmer through such as E.L.F Wild Watermelon Glossy Gloss.

FACT: I have seen Lickable applied as a blush by a M.A.C MUA as WELL as on the lips scary I know, but with a trained light hand and tools it looks terrific. For my makeup sistas who like to step outside the box, give it a go!

 

Wearability

This colour wears like a trooper. I applied Lickable before a drinks and nibblies weekend session and this stayed put for 3+ hours still as vibrant as when I first put it on.

Lickable is a statement colour and other parts of your makeup should be toned down to let ‘her’ shine. I have worn Lickable with a winged cat eye and I have worn it with a gold eye, Indianwood Paint Pot as a base with Woodwinked over the top.

I match my lipstick to my outfit and I have found that Lickable looks nice against an all black outfit to give it a boost of colour, a white or cream top or with summer brights.

It is a bold lipstick perfect for summer it really pops against a tan. Lickable was recommended to me over the famous M.A.C Girl About Town a related cousin.
