Super Bowl Half Time Show Madonna kills it with Cee Lo Green

The Super Bowl Half Time Show of 2012 featured pop queen Madonna and Cee Lo Green with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A making a minor cameo.

Madonna was this year’s Super Bowl Half Time Show guest artist – a highly revered invitation reserved only for the greatest of musicians.  She was throwing shade everywhere pre-show particularly at Janet Jackson regarding her infamous nip slip at Super Bowl past, saying she didn’t need to do that to be cutting edge. Risky move bish…

I wondered at fifty-three years old whether she could pull it off however…

Madonna KILLED IT!!

She came out in a dare I say it - Kylie Minogue-esque inspired gladiator outfit (or as Brian said She-Ra) with an army of gladiators. The stage set up was phenomenal.

Madonna kicked off the show with the 90s classic “Vogue” which set the standard for the rest of the show.

She followed it  up with the 2000 hit “Music” (oop! did you pick up on her slip off the step?) collaborating with LMFAO remixing it with their hit single “Sexy and I Know It”

The boots Madonna chose to wear was obviously giving her grief. Shoe FAIL. She was walking cautiously and dancing around tentatively at times and I was thinking girl don’t fall, because Janet Jackson will make you eat your own shade for your pre-emptive smack talk. You ain’t no Queen Bey okay?

The Controversy

Then out comes Nicki Minaj and M.I.A to join Madonna to perform her latest single from her upcoming album MDNA “Give Me Your Luvin’ “ dressed as cheerleaders with gold pom poms. This performance (whether Madonna likes it or not) will be remembered for controversy – not quite a nipple – but a middle finger delivered courtesy of M.I.A and the word ‘sh*t’ in the lyrics. NBC unfortunately didn’t catch it quick enough and it was aired without censoring. So much for family viewing…

My favourite part of the show is when Cee Lo Green (ugh I love him so much!) took the stage with Madonna where they performed both “Open Your Heart/Express Yourself”  and “Like A Prayer” that drumming band was EVERYTHING (as far as I’m concerned you can throw a drum line in ANY performance and I’m going to be impressed) and the choir and Cee Lo on “Like A Prayer” gave me chills, I love that song!

Kelly Clarkson sung the Star Spangled Banner” the national anthem and despite what others have said, I thought she did a good job.
