Miguel – the R&B/soul sensation (who I not so secretly am in love with) slayed my life this morning on Channel 7’s “Sunrise” morning news show.
Miguel is currently in Australia on a promotional tour for his album “Kaleidoscope Dream.”
To my great disappointment there won’t be any non-industry gigs on the itinerary. Meaning no concerts for Miguel stans *weeps.*
Most people know Miguel from his latest single with Mariah Carey, “#Beautiful” which is charting very well in Australia and worldwide. I however have been following him since he was only known to the underground R&B/soul scene. From the first moment I heard his voice and sound I was hooked – he was giving me a buttery, soulful yet spicy blend of Prince and James Brown.
He performed his hit single “Adorn” and chatted to hosts Mel and Kochie about his music mentors James Brown, Prince, Van Morrison, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.
When asked about who he would like to do a collaboration with next he replied ‘Jack White’ and described recording “#Beautiful” with Mariah Carey ‘phenomenal.’
He surprisingly held off on throwing shade at Miley Cyrus (after her shockingly sexual MTV VMA performance) even with baiting by the hosts.
Miguel fans – the singer will join Bruno Mars next year on his Australia tour. Here’s hoping that he does a solo tour Down Under soon, he has a big fan base here and would surely sell out venues.
