Beyoncé has announced to the world that she is pregnant to her husband of 3 years Jay-Z (41 years) at tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards. She started it all off with a bang, addressing the elephant in the room by screaming out that we should all “feel the love that’s growing inside me.” She rubbed her burgeoning baby bump after her phenomenal performance of “Love on Top” and she looked absolutely radiant in a floor length orange gown, which I presume not many people took notice of as soon as they saw her strategic hand placement. Congratulations Bey! The news was rather ironic given I was only having a conversation with a close girlfriend of mine only yesterday about this very topic:
Rihanna has released a music video for her latest single “Cheers” the same day Beyoncé’s “1+1” was premiered. I am not sure whether this was intentional, I did see Rihanna tweet something about there being an unexpected delay pushing the video back for release by a day or so.
Admittedly, at first I did not like this song on “Loud,” but I grew to really enjoy it. I think it was the Avril Lavigne backing in the chorus that kind of irritated me. In fact, the song is somewhat a Friday anthem for me in preparation for the weekend, “cheers, to the freakin’ weekend, I’ll drink to that, yeahh yeahh!” it really gets me in a good mood.
Newlyweds Kim and Kris Humphries travelled to the beautiful Isle of Capri in Italy for their short honeymoon. Having been there myself, I speak with authority that the place is an absolute paradise, a perfect romantic escape.
Kim refused filming and photography on her honeymoon, despite E!’s attempt to gatecrash. I guess she figured the near $18 million profit she made was probably enough. Let’s not get greedy.
Yesterday I went and saw the film “The Help” which is based on the best selling book of the same title written by Kathryn Stockett. I read the book last year and couldn’t put it down, so naturally I was hyphy when I found out it was made into a film.
Big Boi from Outkast fame tours Australia
Big Boi aka Antwan André Patton the Savannah, Georgia native blessed my city with his 100% unique sounding southern rap last night. I don’t think there is anyone in the southern rap game (yes Lil Wayne and Cash Money I am talking to you) better than Big Boi and Andre 3000 for producing eargasmic beats with such a rich, soulful and regionally true sound (right down to the state). A close second would most definitely go to Goodie Mob fellow Georgians (anticipating the new album hard).
Beyoncé has debuted her latest music video on the E! network, 26 August 2011 for the track “1+1” which was not officially released as a single but was debuted almost three months ago.
Rihanna has been racking up the air miles in the heat of 2011. From turning up the heat Down Under in our already warm climate, then returning to her hotter homeland of Barbados for some cultural R&R, backing up in the UK for the V Music Festival and finishing up the summer season partying on a yacht in St Tropez.
Earlier this year in our summer, the gorgeous Rihanna graced our Australian shores for her “Last Girl On Earth Tour.” My boy Nick went to see the crimson haired vixen and below are some photos of her belting out her tunes, with a billion (well not quite) costume changes in Brisbane, Australia.
Getting up close and personal with her Rihanna Navy singing “Only Girl In The World.”
Kardashian wedding, love, family and profit
The Kardashian wedding (with minimal mention of Humphries) was indeed all that was predicted, a fairytale wedding, for celebrity royalty. Unfortunately, the reception was cut short due to complaints from neighbours (probably just jealous they didn’t make the 500 invitation list) of noise. The reception wound up by 1am with the music being cut off at midnight. Not even the Kardashians are exempt from bothersome neighbour complaints.
O.P.I Lincoln Park After Dark is a cult classic dark purple O.P.I shade made famous by many female celebrities since 2009. Khloe Kardashian inspired me to start wearing it on my fingernails. I have been wearing it all Autumn and Winter this year. The thing I love about LPAD is that it is a dark purple, which is much more wearable than a flat black. LPAD has a sister, Lincoln Park At Midnight which is the same deep purple but it has very fine shimmer through it. Lincoln Park After Dark is much more of a flat matte purple.
