Prince was pranked by his own dancer Damaris Lewis live on Australian radio’s Triple M Hot Breakfast.
Prince held his only Australian radio interview with Triple M’s Hot Breakfast in Melbourne shortly after he had fallen into bed post-concert and Bennett’s Lane afterparty gig.
The beautiful Damaris Lewis (I remember seeing her on stage at the Brisbane concert) one of Prince’s dancers was in the studio to talk on the show and she surprised the hosts by prank calling The Purple One in his hotel room. Woken from slumber, he quickly figures out who this fictional ‘Victoria’ is.
Damaris hails from Brooklyn and started her career as a model (by looking at her is it any surprise?) and was asked by Prince what her dreams were – she revealed she wanted to be a dancer. Like the Prince he is – made her fantasy come true and she soon joined his troupe of talented artists.
Much to my delight Prince stated in this interview that Australia was his favourite tour to date before jokingly hanging up the phone.
This interview proves that he really is down to earth, has a sense of humour and is not the oddball the media often present him as.
May 30th marks Prince’s last show on The Welcome 2 Australia tour. It’s been a blast Prince.
May you make a speedy return to our shores – and if you don’t, well I will always live with the satisfaction of knowing I saw you in your purple aura of performance greatness.
