I have bought a few products from M.A.C this month:
- Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC35;
- Studio Finish Concealer in NC35;
- Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark;
- Lipstick in Ravishing
I bought a double ended blending eyeshadow brush from Models Prefer also from Priceline.
I have been wearing M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid for quite some time now, I previously wore the discontinued M.A.C Hyper Real Foundation. This formula is very similar coverage to Hyper Real however it does not have the iridescent glow which gives off that JLo look. I wear it in the shade NC35, for non M.A.C heads the ‘c’ in NC stands for ‘cool’ which is representative of the undertones in your skin. You can also get ‘NW’ for warmer based skin.
When I start a new bottle of Studio Fix Fluid I pop on the pump from my previous bottle which you can buy separately. It controls the product portion for application so you’re not wasting it. I use one pump and a half for my whole face, and I apply my foundation with a foundation brush.
This has medium to full coverage and it is buildable. It lasts a full day of wear without re-application but as I’ve recently found out, is fully locked in with the application of face powder. Hence, my purchase of the M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish (MSF) Natural in Medium Dark.

M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer has been a relatively new discovery for me it offers full coverage. I previously used M.A.C’s Select MoistureCover but I found I was going through it too quickly and it didn’t have great staying power. I apply it with my fingers however you can apply it with a brush as well. I like using my fingers because it warms the product from my body heat ensuring a smoother application. It is great under the eyes and concealing blemishes and is a perfect match for the foundation of the same colour.
M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark is a mineral baked face powder in a skin tone that you use to set your foundation to make it budge proof and minimize oiliness. I’d heard a lot of good things about this setting powder so I went ahead and purchased it. It’s a perfect match to my NC35 foundation and concealer. Previously I was using M.A.C’s Set Powder which is transparent and it was fantastic but I have run out so I thought I’d give the MSF a go. I would definitely recommend picking up the Set Powder if you are worried about cakiness because this product has no colour and it diffuses your blemishes to make your pores disappear and it creates this polished look.
I apply it with a big fluffy powder brush. After one day’s use I had a little bit of oil present on my face which is a bit disappointing as the Set Powder would mattify my skin all day, however I will keep trying.

I bought M.A.C lipstick in “Ravishing” which is a clean light peachy coral and is a Cremesheen finish. It is a lot brighter than what I can be seen on one of my all time favourite Dominican beauty gurus (who is my skin tone) DrBrooklyn730. I encourage any other mixed race sistas to check out her YouTube channel of the same name for makeup tips.
It applies very creamy, is buildable and will be perfect for spring/summer this year when I get a well needed tan. I will probably pair the lipstick back with M.A.C’s C-Thru Lipglass(which I own) like DrBrooklyn730 has.

I picked up this double ended eyeshadow blending brush in MP01 from Models Prefer it set me back around $10 AUD I have several eyeshadow brushes but not a short ended smudging brush for under the eye to create that smoky effect so when I saw this I had to get it. I haven’t used it yet so I will reserve my Fancye grade until later.
I hope you enjoyed my September M.A.C haul (except for the Models Prefer brush) and that it will inform your purchase if you are scoping out one of these products. Please go to one of the M.A.C counters and get a free sample pot to determine your exact foundation shade, apply it at home and look at it in daylight, as artificial store lighting is different to the environment most of us wear our makeup.
Please leave a comment or Tweet me if you have used any of these products, I’d love to hear your experiences.
